 History of SAGE

The SAGE Scholars Program was created by the UC Office of the President to complement the UC Outreach Program which targets students from disadvantaged backgrounds and seeks to increase diversity in the student body at the University of California. Initially, the program was launched at UC Irvine and UC Berkeley in 1999, with the intent of expanding the program to include most UC campuses within the next 5 years. The SAGE Scholars Program provides a dynamic model for developing technological, scientific and business leadership for the 21st century.
